My World
Bridget Bourgoin

Winters getting shorter
Summers longer
Heat covers The Earth
With a thick blanket of warmth
I mourn the passing of winter
As if it will never return,
And it’s all on me
A human,

Once careless for this cause,
But now that I am less naïve
I know better
Than to take the world for granted,
And leave its beauty
Behind.
To leave it in the dust
And submit to another planet
While watching the world I know
      Fade away.
